I am a firm believer that your journey teaches you alot about your real destination!

After a personal health scare in 2019 and then losing my special friend in 2020, throw in COVID and the impact it had on the industry I was working in, it was time to make a fresh change and say goodbye to my career of 15 years, to start 2022 with a clear focus on my health and wellbeing.

We welcomed Basil our beautiful Cavoodle into our lives January 2022. With Basil in our life he instantly made a fabulous companion on those days when I wasn't flourishing, his unconditional love was the therapy we all needed! He has the best life and has taught me how to live my best life, doing what I love, that brings me joy!

As winter approached I started to look around for a nice warm jumper for Basil, but there was really nothing I liked that was made from 100% NZ wool, so we knitted one. Basil received lots of great compliments when out in his jumpers, which sparked the idea of creating a small business.

It was through fostering my productivity again, that Basiboy was born! It wasn't difficult to come up with a great brand that meant the world to us, as Basiboy is Basil's nickname. Add a touch of green for a nod to the herb basil and a ball of yarn and we were ready to start creating.

All our Jumpers are expertly made in New Zealand. At our core, Basiboy is truly a New Zealand brand. We pride ourselves on quality and durability, while supporting the environmental pawprint and are proud to have all of our hand knitters based throughout our small nation.

Choosing to produce our styles this way, as a small business we can create small collections that are utilising the different skill sets and craftmanship of our experienced knitters. We carefully consider who will make each design to ensure job satisfaction and enjoyment is paramount.

We only use 100% NZ wool for its quality and sustainability attributes. A lot of pet apparel these days is shipped in from overseas and is made by synthetics that have been trying to mimic the performance of wool for years, but nothing can compare! Think about how many stores/estores you enter, that have mass produced goods and the quality is missing. It is a common theme now for pet clothing and we would love to slowly change that for canines!
Dogs are undoubtedly our furry best friends and due to their dedication and companionship we want to ensure that our customers are purchasing the best quality possible for them, as they deserve it.
